objective
Preventing vandalism with community beautification
The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) created the Adopt-a-Stop program as a statewide initiative that provides businesses and individuals the opportunity to partner with UTA in a proactive, positive effort to keep local bus stops and communities safe, clean, and thriving. A key component of Adopt-a-Stop is to integrate community art into transit shelters in order to prevent vandalism, an ongoing issue for transit systems across the country.
SOLUTION
Elevating student art with intention
Each year, UTA’s Community Engagement program holds BeUTAHful— a biannual student art competition to celebrate the Utah Community and offer young artists a chance to showcase their work. For the last two years, our team has utilized winning designs from BeUTAHful to create shelter wraps. Our design solution for these shelters was to integrate as many student drawings as possible, while also creating a thematic set of wraps that unify the multitude of artistic styles from students.
from the client
“Declarative more than just delivered eye-catching shelter graphics from our BeUTAHful Student Art Competition, but took the time to understand our needs in elevating youth artwork in public spaces. The team consistently communicated throughout the process and showcased multiple designs that we were able to choose from, and were very responsive to making changes to the shelter wraps. We are happy with their work and would seek their expertise with similar projects in the future.”
