Steph Shotorbani is the Chief Creative Officer at Declarative. She focuses on interpreting our client’s purpose to then translate their vision into a collectively understood visual language. Steph uses her skills to connect with, understand, and surprise her audience regardless of the medium she employs. Whether it’s strategizing a brand identity or telling a story through data visualization, her goal is create beautiful and thoughtful products that spark joy.
Steph’s journey to this work began more than a decade ago, where she found that the art of design perfectly harmonizes her love for beauty, problem solving, and communication. She first studied graphic design as an undergraduate at the University of Utah and later received her masters degree in Data Design at Elisava School of Design and Engineering in Barcelona, Spain. Between her studies, Steph has had the opportunity to take her learnings into the real world, including designing prints and textiles for the 2020 Nike Swim line, guest teaching design courses at the University of Utah, and serving as the senior designer at the Sorenson Impact Center. Now, Steph uses what she’s learned along the path to connect with people through a universal visual language for all to understand.
Outside of work, Steph is likely spending her energy looking for good food, watching apple tv shows, or demolishing and rebuilding her current floor plan.
“To me, creativity and humanity are one in the same. It is connection, it is perspective, it is passion. As we focus on creativity, we move towards being more human, reigniting the ‘creative spark’ for a more purposeful life.”
